Inland Regional Youth Theatre is excited to be producing this wonderful Broadway classic that will whisk you away to a place where dreams are born and no one ever grows up! Based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale and featuring an unforgettable score by Morris “Moose” Charlap and Jule Styne with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh and Betty Comden and Adolph Green, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time. This high-flying Tony Award-winning musical has been performed around the world and delighted audiences for 60 years.
Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook. Featuring the iconic songs, “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow,” “I Won’t Grow Up” and “Never Never Land,” and a rousing book full of magic, warmth and adventure, Peter Pan is the perfect show for the child in all of us… who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up. We have brought together an amazing production team for this show.
Heather Kerr (Director) – Heather is excited to work with the talented kids of IRYT for the first time. She has recently moved to Riverside after working as the Artistic Director for Christian Youth Theater – Tucson. She started her career early, touring as “Annie” and acting in a range of productions from “Sound of Music”, ‘Little Shop of Horrors” and Steven Sondheim’s “Assassins”. She worked at Disneyland performing in the “Hunchback of Notre Dame” stage show for 2 ½ years as a lead equity performer. She is excited to share her talents with this talented cast.
Janine McConnell ( Musical Director) – Janine is returning for her seventh IRYT show. She recently directed Elf Jr. The Musical and was the music director for six additional IRYT shows. Two of those shows were honored with Outstanding Ensemble Awards for National Youth Arts. She is a teacher, a mom, a wife, an advocate for the homeless, and a daughter of The King. To watch children grow and mature during the rehearsal process of a show, both musically and artistically, brings her great joy!
Radames & Stacey Montes (Choreographers) – These two amazing choreographers have worked in the industry for over two decades. They have both worked for many regional theaters, Disney and various cruise lines. Stacey has been part of dance since age 4, and trained at AMDA in New York. Rad and Stacey are grateful to God for the ability to share their passion for the arts and to bring arts into the youth community. A student favorite, these two have become regulars in our IRYT family.
